In this Instructor-Only video, we show some variations on the Kayanan 10-Count Palusot Drill.
Variations include continuing to vital targets, countering the arm-cuts, and timing.
Instructor: Tuhon Ricardo Kayanan (not shown)

Supplemental Video Notes:
Section 1
Check-Check
Instead of checking and leaving hand there long enough to be cut, practice a fast check, withdrawing the hand before he can cut
Section 2
Add standard arm cut back in on one side
Section 3
Feeder feeds target 1
Receiver does fast check then feeds his target 1
Feeder does standard gunting for that count but uses cut to go direct to vital target instead of just gunting
Section 4
Same as 3 but when Feeder goes for gunting, Receiver turns blade out, passing their hand out and avoiding the gunting. Checking hand tracks their blade down, PD slash carotid, puncture at will.
Section 5
Feeder feeds target 1
Receiver goes for his standard gunting on that count
Feeder, instead of letting wrist cut happen either turns arm up like guard 5 to avoid cut, or just enters with that posture from the start to avoid gunting
Feeder then checks down blade arm from missed gunting and thrusts heart
Section 6
Feeder feeds his count 1
Receiver does a two-count to his target. So instead of gunting then Recevier target 1, he does more of a step back, check, then comes back in for his target 1.
Feeder does a 2 of 12 counter, circling down to femoral shot while using footwork to get outside
Section 7
Same as 5, but now the receiver does a 1-count to his target 1. It’s coming right in so Feeder same side taps at the crook of the elbow to control the entire arm, checking at brachial w/ blade
Section 8
I don’t know what count this is but Feeder 1 goes right clavicle and Receiver counters (It’s the one where you would do a high cross-body tap to their right clavicle).
When Feeder goes to check, Receiver non-linear around hand to left clavicle
Section 9
Same as 7 but when Recevier non-linears, Feeder tracks arm at elbow like in Vid6 and thrust brachial
