Attendance: Guro JP, Derek, Karl, Jayson, Edwin, Frank

Jayson, Edwin, & Frank refined, and relearned Transition Drill #2.

Derek & I refined our cross-body tap focusing on footwork. We warmed up by rep’ing a down-the-line drill:

Feeder 1(F1): feeds palm up horizontal cut to Feeder 2’s Left Carotid.
Feeder 2(F2): distance parries back with pendulum tap.

F1: feeds palm down horizontal cut to F2’s Right Carotid.
F2: steps back in with cross-body tap/ corkscrew tap, pinning F1’s blade hand to his hip.

-Feeder 1 can initiate the drill with alternating targets.
-Feeder 2 focuses on closed seams, and closing the time between pendulum & corkscrew tap.

We then refined our cross-body tap within our box flow, focusing on footwork using our shifting “cat stance”. When tapping with right hand, lead with left foot. When tapping with left hand, lead with right foot. The shift in footwork is timed when your tap passes centerline.
    – while tapping, focus on being active, rather than reactive.

After rep’ing our cross-body taps and footwork within box flow, we added clears 1 & 2 from TD #1. We still used the shifting “cat stance” footwork, but used a shuffle step as the clear counters occurred.
    * the shuffle step allows you to gain some reactionary gap. As opposed to staying in the pocket, and trying to catch up to the feeder’s clears.
