=== Attendees ===
Tuhon Ric, Guro JP, techjesus, silentderek, tastymaker, Chris, Frank the Monster, Edwin OGE, Jayson, Nick== Warm-ups ==
* forward triangle, cw & ccw
* reverse triangle, cw & ccwWhen doing triangles, make your footwork flow. To help footwork, you can think of yourself in a room that’s a few inches shorter than you are so you have to bend your knees, then at each point of the triangle, bring your feet together and then flow toward the next point.
As you do your triangles, free flow striking and parrying with your stick. When first starting, you can start to gain coordination by alternating between strike & parry. So strike, parry, strike, parry, strike, parry. This way, you cycle through striking and parrying at each point on the triangle.
== Three-count drills in [[1 of 12]] ==
=== The Three Guards ===
1 High guard – offensive position – stick held up like a roof block and pointed directly at your opponent’s face
2 Mid guard – neutral position – stick hand is down and point is directed at opponent’s torso or navel
3 Low guard – defensive position – stick hand is down and point is directed between opponent’s feet=== Tools used ===
* 40 inch rattan sticks=== Things to remember ===
* Remember to keep your intent. Go for your target, don’t just hit the stick.
* Stay point on.
* Follow through with your cuts (no magic wanding) and end the cut in point-on position.
* Try practicing these drills with no punyo. Excessive punyo is not ideal, and no punyo maximizes your grip workout.
* Don’t let your empty hand flop around like a T-Rex. Tuhon Ric and Guro JP kept their left hands near their blade for a potential draw. It’s also necessary since empty hand is used in a couple drills, so keep it ready.=== 1 of 12 Template ===

6 Diagonal slash down to receiver’s right collar bone down to left toe
7 Low slash to receiver’s right knee

12 Uppercut to centerline/groin=== Starting Position ===
Start with feeder 1 (f1) in high guard and feeder 2 (f2) in low guard.=== Count 1 ===
”’Drill 1”’
1 f1 feed 1, f2 roof block
2 f2 feed 1, f1 roof block
3 f1 feed 1, f2 roof blockFeeders should maintain distance (either shuffle step for maintaining a single stance or regular step for alternating forward/reverse stance).
”’Drill 2”’ (squat block)
1 f1 feed 1, f2 roof block
2 f2 feed 1, f2 squat & roof block
3 f1 feed 1, f2 roof blockThe purpose of squatting is for feeder 2 to remove their head as a target while not moving backwards. Feeder 2 is inside feeder 1’s reactionary gap after the second count.
”’Drill 3”’ (stick grapple)
1 f1 feed 1, f2 roof block
2 f2 feed 1, f1 roof block
3 f1 feed 1, f2 roof block to grapple.Additional detail on 3: f1 feed 1, f2 roof block but f2 also steps forward with left foot while extending left arm to get a same-side tap on f1’s arm (move in under the roof), pin f1’s arm to their body, and proceed to get a stick grapple going with their right hand palm down, and left hand palm up. Feeder 2 pulls in the arms & elbows, and remove all air gaps between themselves and feeder 1. Also feeder 1’s head is against feeder 2’s shoulder that has the stick in that arm.
F2 uses empty hand to clear under his own roof and same-side tap F1’s stick (pin arm to hip) using either shuffle step or regular step to begin closing distance. F2 closes for grapple with right leg between F1’s legs, continue roof block to bring stick behind F1’s back (palm down) and into own left hand (palm up). Feeder 2 pulls in the arms & elbows, and remove all air gaps between themselves and feeder 1 (bonus points for docking). Also feeder 1’s head is against feeder 2’s shoulder that has the stick in that arm.
”’Drill 4”’ (stick grapple from side)
1 f1 feed 1, f2 roof block
2 f2 feed 1, f1 roof block
3 f1 feed 1, f2 wing block and punch through (could also be a strike to F1’s face) but f2 also steps forward with left foot, crashing in to get a stick hold from the side on f1, hammering f1. If f1 tries to push the stick out, hammer on f1’s rib, when f1 pushes the stick downward to save their ribs, hammer on f1’s neck, or down to the legs for a take down.=== Count 2 ===
”’Drill 1”’
1 f1 feed 2, f2 wing block
2 f2 feed 2, f1 wing block
3 f1 feed 2, f2 wing blockSame footwork as Count 1 Drill 1 above
”’Drill 2”’ (squat block)
1 f1 feed 2, f2 wing block
2 f2 feed 2, f1 squat & wing block
3 f1 feed 2, f2 wing block -
