Guro Krishna Godhania – Sayoc Senior Full Instructor.
As I approach 25 years of Sayoc Kali practice, I reflect on how this art of the blade has transformed my life through the many profound lessons imparted by the source of this family art – Pamana Tuhon Christopher Sayoc, Snr (PTS).
When I found Sayoc, I had already trained extensively in the Philippines. PTS always reminded me to embody the legacies of the Masters that I had trained with in the homeland. Now that PTS has also passed to the other side, his legacy is now the engine that allows the Sayoc tribe to place a higher mission in the propagation of the Art of the Blade.
For me, what began as a pursuit of sophisticated martial blade movement, soon expanded into learning how to apply the language of the blade to all aspects of my life.
To respect, yet look beyond the destructive power of the art. And appreciate how it helped me with the following:
- Optimising physical motion
- Sharpening mental perception
- Managing Emotional Leakage
- Problem Solving using applicable critical thinking skills
- Killing my clone on a daily basis
- Understand the importance of building a Tribe of Masters
- Recognising Legacy as a Mission that must survive beyond one’s lifetime
- Understand the importance of building a Tribe in pursuit of Mastery as an ongoing process – like a blade that has to be regularly sharpened
- Lead from the front – Be The Feeder.
